Mr. Prajak Chantanee was born in the city of Udonthani, in the province of Udonthani, Kingdom of Thailand on the 15th of October 2490 (10/15/1947). Affectionately known to all as Daa Jack he led a full and reverent life according to the teachings of Buddha. He left this life for the next at 8:30am on the morning of the 23rd of September 2556 (9/23/2013) peacefully at his home in Bellevue, Washington, USA.
Daa Jack married Bampen Saengsila, affectionately known to all as Yai Pen, also from Udonthani, and together they raised their daughter Julaluk “Julie”, and sons Thawatchai “Ole” and Anupong “Lek”. The family moved to Bellevue and grew to include Julie’s husband Donald and daughter Ocean, Ole’s wife Joy and their children, Jamie, Jacie & Jeno and Lek’s wife Jun and daughter Pikki.
An excellent chef Daa Jack helped Julie found the Chantanee Thai Restaurant & Bar in Bellevue and Pen Thai Restaurant in Bothell, named for Yai Pen, serving excellent Thai cuisine to the communities they came to call home. In addition to a love of cooking Daa Jack had a “green thumb” and enjoyed raising herbs and vegetables in his garden. Daa Jack cherished his wife, children and especially his grandchildren and as he embarks on his new life in the pursuit of enlightenment his family, including the many relatives both here and in Thailand, will miss his smile and cherish his memory.
