Ray David Rezab, 61, passed away on March 27, 2023. Ray was born in St. Paul, MN, the middle of three children of Don and Gordana Rezab. At the age of 7, the family moved to Macomb, IL where Ray attended school and began a love of swimming and all things active. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign/Urbana where he swam competitively and received a degree in engineering. Upon graduation, Ray moved to Seattle, WA to work for Boeing, and eventually returned to school to receive his master’s in business administration from the University of Washington. Ray was a Certified Financial Planner and joined Zachary Scott & Co. in the early 90’s, where he remained until his retirement in 2022. After retirement, he fulfilled his lifelong dream to complete his private pilot's license and was truly enjoying all that Washington had to offer as he flew from airport to airport.
Ray loved the outdoors and many outdoor activities. He was an accomplished snow skier, and water skier. Ray was a member of the Ski Acres ski patrol for several years and made many strong relationships. He enjoyed a good game of golf. In his younger days, he loved long bike rides and completed many organized bike events, including the Seattle to Portland in one day. In his later years, he enjoyed long walks with Remi (the chocolate lab).
His passion for the church and specifically the choir was well known. Ray followed in his dad’s footsteps and loved worshiping through song. He was a member of the Bellevue Presbyterian Church choir for many years. His favorite Sundays were those that started with the procession of choir into the Sanctuary.
Beyond the outdoors and his faith, Ray was a diehard hockey fan. He loved attending games for the Thunderbirds and then, when the Kraken, Seattle’s professional hockey team came, he was there too.
Ray adored his two adult children, Samantha, and Jackson. He spent countless hours with them enjoying the outdoors, attending hockey games, supporting them as they progressed in their careers, and celebrating both milestones and the daily events. Ray will be sorely missed.
Ray is preceded in death by his father and mother, Don and Gordana Rezab, and his nephew, Christopher Gibson. He is survived by his two children Samantha (Jacob) Isom and Jackson Rezab, his sisters, Linda (Wesley) Gibson and their children and grandchildren, and Julie (Don) Kemp and their children and grandchildren, as well as his aunt and uncle Zlata and Hussein Zaki.
Services for Ray will be held at Bellevue Presbyterian Church at 1pm on Friday, April 14, 2023. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Music Ministry in memory of Ray Rezab at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 1717 Bellevue Way NE, 98004.
