Longtime resident of Bellevue, died unexpectedly at age 74 on October 23, 2010. Ray was born March 25, 1936 to Matthew and Vivian Weber of Seattle. Raised on Queen Anne Hill he attended Saint Anne’s Grade School along with his older brother Mike. Ray’s high school years were enrolled at Seattle Preparatory Academy. At Seattle Prep he excelled and enjoyed participating in debate competitions where he won both state and regional awards. He attended Seattle University (paid his own way through college working the infamous paper route), joined Army ROTC, was a member of the Alpha Phi Omega fraternity and graduated in 1958 with a degree in Business Administration. Ray was listed in College Who’s Who because of his enthusiastic participation in extra-curricular activities during his four years at Seattle U. Some of which included ROTC Drill team, class officer for three years, Military Ball Chairman and for the honor of being designated a Distinguished Military Student. After graduation he immediately set off to serve in the U.S. Army as a Transportation Officer stationed in Germany.
Back in Seattle from his service overseas, Ray met and married Marite Cakarnis on June 13, 1964. They moved to Bellevue the following year where they raised their three children Mark (McGuire AFB, NJ), Matthew (Bellevue, WA) and Kristin (Portland, OR). Ray was passionate about people, friends and family. He was an amazing salesman who earned numerous awards and recognition for his dedication and overall achievements in the field. Ray worked for John L. Scott Real Estate for nearly 45 years. He was fascinated with learning about people and because of this he enjoyed going to work each day. He also served on the Bellevue Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors for many years. He loved all sports… particularly sports where his kids and grandkids were participating. He absolutely loved Salmon fishing and would immediately jump at any opportunity with his fishing buddies. He was the epitome of a people person and the lives he touched could never be measured.
Ray is survived by his wife Marite of 46 years, his three children Mark (Samantha), Matthew (Elizabeth) and Kristin (Derek) Walker. Grandpa was adored by his grandchildren; Callan, Sidney, Meghan, Avery, Maxwell, Zackery and Vivian.
