Rhys David Pasion Madamba

Rhys was born on February 5, 2009 in Bellevue, Washington and lived a full life with his family, friends and extended family in Washington state and Hawaii. As a junior at Mercer Island High School, Rhys was an accomplished student with a reputation of being smart and kind, a friendly smiling face always willing to help a fellow student. Rhys had a curiosity and mindset for learning and was known as ‘Chem Warrior’ and ‘Micro GOAT.’ He found and brought joy as a chess club volunteer for a local elementary school, where he was known as ‘Rhys’s Pieces.’ Outside of the classroom, Rhys was always curious and ready to learn new skills. He had recently joined the track team and was teaching himself to play the keyboard. Rhys was also an enthusiastic video gamer and snowboarder, always ready for another challenge and adventure. An amazing, kind, quiet, solid presence whose absence is profoundly felt.

A cherished son, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, Rhys is survived by parents Jonathan & MaryLou, brothers Jared & Max, grandparents Loreto & Evelyn Pasion and Jose & Jesusa Madamba.

A Celebration of Rhys’s Life will be held at Sunset Hills (1575 145th Pl SE, Bellevue) on Easter Sunday, April 5th. To celebrate Rhys, the family requests guests wear white or muted neutral shirts/tops. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MIHS PTSA.
