

Richard, Dick, Lundberg passed away February 20, 2017 in Mercer Island, WA at the age of 96. He was born Sept. 14, 1920 in Selah, WA, the son of Martin and Anna Lundberg. He graduated from Selah High School in 1938 and then attended Yakima Junior College in pre-engineering. He joined the Navy in September of 1942 and after boot camp attended Texas A&M Special Electronics School. He was very proud to serve his country during WWII. After the Navy, he graduated from University of Washington with a P.E. in Electrical Engineering. Richard married Elaine M. Pearson on July 8, 1944. They spent the majority of their married life in Bellevue, WA. His career as a Data Communications Processing Engineer was spent in Seattle working for Pacific Northwest Bell for 35 years. Dick was an avid volunteer and served in many capacities at Highland Covenant Church and always loved a good work party. He also used his carpentry and electrical abilities to work at the church denomination camps. For 25 years in a row he traveled to Alaska to volunteer at Radio Station KICY and other remote camps and facilities for the Covenant. The Mt. Rainier area was a favorite for his love of backpacking, camping and family breakfasts. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine, and his son, Keith Lundberg. He is survived by his son, David (Carolyn) Lundberg, daughters Julie (Dick) Day and Jan (Don) Safstrom, daughter-in-law Sally Lundberg, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be March 10, 2017 at 2:30pm at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, Bellevue, WA, and a public Memorial Service will be held March 11, 2017 at 1:00, Highland Covenant Church, 15022 NE Bel-Red Road, Bellevue, WA 98007.
