

Robert grew up on the Westport farm during the Great Depression and attended grade and high school in a one room schoolhouse in Letts, Indiana. In 1940, his sister, Marjorie urged him to apply for a job at Dayton (Ohio) Power and Light where he ultimately became a Journeyman Lineman.
In 1943 Robert entered the United States Army Air Force and was stationed in Europe. He became 1st Lieutenant in the Corps of Engineers where he worked across France making temporary repairs to railroads. Robert received a Purple Heart after being hit with shrapnel from tank mine near Metz, France.
After the war, Robert joined Puget Sound Power & Light in Puyallup in February, 1947 as a Lineman. It was there that he met his beloved future wife, Stella. They were married in June of 1954 and shared 45 years of happiness together. During this time, Robert was promoted through a series of positions until he became Vice President Divisions & Customer Service at Puget Power in Bellevue. Robert was past President of Bellevue Rotary and the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, served on the board of King County Council of Campfire and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church.
Robert’s greatest joy was his family, especially his 4 grandsons. He is survived by his two daughters, Suzanne (Kevin) Connell, Jennifer (Todd) Kaden, grandsons, John & Jackson Connell, Jacob & Joseph Kaden, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be June 14th at 2pm at First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue, 1717 Bellevue Way NE in Bellevue. A reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that remembrances be made to Wellspring Family Services or Evergreen Hospice.
