

Samir fought a 2 year battle with cancer before he went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus. He was surrounded by his family near and far on December 14, 2025 at the hospice center near his home in Redmond, WA. when he passed.
Samir was born May 8, 1955 in Asyut, Egypt. He was the third son of seven boys to Thabit and Rachel Attalah. He graduated with a BS degree in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Cairo. After graduation he spent 4 years in Rome, Italy playing professional soccer for AC Milan Division 2 and working in a family restaurant.
After his adventures in Italy, he decided to check out the United States and landed in Seattle, WA in 1978. He quickly enrolled in Bible college and worked as a janitor to support himself. At the same time he worked in construction to earn extra money to support his family back home in Egypt. He attended North Seattle Community College and Renton Technical College to further his English and build his skills. He also was one of the top newspaper delivery persons at the Seattle Times delivering upto 200 papers per day! He also attended Seattle University to earn a masters in computer science. He proudly became a US citizen in 1981.
In the late 1980's he found his calling and became an Amway Independent Business Owner. He met his wife Theresa Hanks in California in 1992 who was also building an Amway business. Together they built a successful Amway business to the Diamond Level.
Samir's greatest joy in life was his wife Theresa and their three children Michael, Angelique and Matthew and new son in law Griffin Bashaw. He also loved and financially supported his family and their children in Egypt. He was a committed donor to the Liilian Trasher Orphanage in his hometown of Asyut, Egypt, a place that was near and dear to his heart, and often helped his family while he was growing up!
