I am a long client of Mr. Warren Chinn on the traffic laws. I was contact him regarding the existing case yesterday and I am so shocked to learn that Mr. Chinn has passed away Today from his colleague. 

Mr. Chinn is such a nice person and great lawyer and very efficient and loving in his handling of the cases for us. 

My greatest condolence to Mr. Chinn's family. My prayers go to them. May Mr. Chinn rest in peace in Heaven.

We were all shocked to hear about Warren. We feel like we just saw him few days ago and talked about the trip to Yellowstone and we were there around the same time without planning. Also we talked about food. He made a pasta dish to share when gathering in our home. It was so delicious. 

Warren was was a wonderful man and friend. May his soul Rest in Peace.

We were so sorry to hear of Warren's passing. We first met Warren after we moved to Hawaii in 1980. Warren’s family and ours have been closely associated with for several generations. In Hawaii, we spent much happy time together with Warren and to see him to grow from a courteous boy to a good student and to a well-established lawyer. We will miss you, Warren and will keep your parents and other family members in our prayers.



I met Warren in law school and was incredibly lucky and grateful to be his friend. I will remember Warren as kind, generous, caring, and humble. I will remember his huge smile that made us all smile. I will cherish all the wonderful memories from law school and beyond - dim sum, The Garage, the Patron, and all the laughs.  I will miss you, Warren.

I first met Warren at his and Alisha’s wedding. The person he was then compared to when I saw him last, at the Lunar New Year’s gathering, were different like night and day. 
He has accepted and cultivated the teachings and emits a compassion that extends beyond his family. He carries himself with steadfastness and does what he can for those in need. 
My greatest gratitude to him to this day is the professionalism and care he offered me during one of the hardest times of my life. 
His light continues to shine in my heart and will not be lost.

There was never a better person to talk politics with than Warren.  Not because he agreed with me, but because he disagreed with me. Always with great respect, insight, and heart. When I worry about this country, I always think about Warren. He was looking out for us all - 100%. Not many people have that sense of balance that encourages unity, respect, and the possibility to build instead of tearing down. I am so blessed to have known him.

My condolences to all - family, friends, and colleagues. It is a sorrowful loss. May your lovely memories of Warren's big heart fill you with love and strength.

Our deepest condolence to the Chinn’s and Yang’s families at this very difficult time.  Wishing Alisha and Derek find peace, comfort, courage and lots of love at this time of sorrow. We are thinking of you and sending caring thoughts your way to support you through this challenging time.

It’s been 15 + years since we know Warren and Alisha.  We attended their beautiful wedding and a baby shower to welcome baby Derek to their happy family. 

Warren, you are a very respectful, caring and enthusiastic person.  Your friendly smile is very contagious.  Thank you for always greeting and chatting with me in Cantonese whenever we met.  You are a wonderful big brother and advisor to the youth.  Caroline was inspired by you and she was always so grateful to have you in her teenaged life.  

I had enjoyed cooking with you, eating your delicious foods.  Watching your cooking with an apron, a chef’s knife and a kitchen towel on your shoulder is just like watching a popular Food Network Show.  We have had so many fond memories and fun adventures together, from camping trips to family gatherings and cooking classes…. These beautiful memories will be forever living in our hearts.  

I will miss seeing your exciting Dolphins post on Facebook but I will continue to cheer them up for you! 


In Taiwan, it is okay for guys to wear whatever you wants when attending a wedding, so Warren asked for permission to wear a Hawaiian shirt to our wedding.

Even until today, the news of Warren's passing is still shocking.
To me, Warren was always a great cook and a proud foodie. From time to time, we would have dinner gatherings, or he would invite us to dinner. He is always happy to share his recipes, along with his new vegetarian options findings (restaurant/ snacks/ bubble tea places/ etc). 
On the day that I heard about the news, my little daughter Stephanie overheard Warren's name and repeatedly said: "姨丈"(uncle) and Derek gege (brother"哥哥"), wondering where they were. I did not know how to respond to her, because I can't get over the fact that the next time when we return to Seattle, Warren won't be there to share more of his new findings with us.
Throughout the years, he has shown us that he is not only a good cook, but a kind, caring, family person. He became our big brother. I will always remember when I was about to get married, he jokingly said to me that I'm not just marrying Vincent, but his whole family too. (touche, I guess that's from your own experience haha)

You were the brother I was wanted and finally got when you and my sister got married. I was so lucky to have you for 20 years. 20 years seems long, but if you ask me, it's way too short.  

I remember the first time I met you, you looked like a teddy bear to me. I remember when your relationship was still young, I tricked you on the phone (on a landline back then lol) since my and Alisha's voice can sound quite alike on the phone. I was so excited and proud that I tricked you lol! That's how you got your nick name BB Chinn too.

I remember the taping and retaping of Gilmore Girls and watching it together every Tuesdays on VHS. I think deep down you liked a good chick flick too , don't deny it lol ~ 

You were my life savior throughout college hehe~ I don't know what I would do with those essay assignments if it weren't for you. I loved it sometimes you just wanted to rewrite the whole thing for me lol~ was I that beyond help? lol~ you have been our walking encyclopedia :D 

I love your cooking. From all the birthday, thanksgiving, xmas, new year, etc feast, to the day to day dishes.. I can never loose any weight because of you cooking!! (well, for the most part :p )

I'm gonna miss you so much dearest BB Chinn. You will always be in my heart.

Dear Warren,
The sad news really took us by surprise and is hard to believe, especially when we were just still talking about the PS5 sale on Sunday morning. 

I remembered when going way back when you and Alisha were dating, I was only a high school kid. When Alisha introduced you to us, it feel awkward at first having a total stranger (at the time) to be joining our big family. But then you quickly blended in, and with your amazing cooking skills -- you had me at the baked potatoes dishes.

I will remember your delicious cooking and the days when we'd just chill and talked about geek-ly stuff like games, building computers, football, movies, and everything...

        Warren was a well-known professional lawyer. He was very hardworking, and at home he was a loving husband and father.  He was a great chef and would often show off his cooking skills whenever we had dinner gatherings together.  His love was not only expressed through his words but most importantly through his actions. Whenever we went to his house, we often saw him doing the dishes, vacuuming the floor, and working in the yard. 
       He always went deep into the realities of truth with an exploring spirit, so his understanding was not just superficial or a vague theory. 
His words and actions were always consistent, and he was very self-disciplined.
       At this moment, while we grieve in our hearts, we also believe that everything happens with God's best arrangement.
      The past is still vivid in our mind, the deceased are gone with the wind; ashes to ashes, dust to dust, but the self-nature will last, and we will meet again in the Realm of Truth!

Warren is so missed! Over the past 13 years, Warren always greeted me in the office with a smile. He was always willing to help, whether it was with tech issues, or to give advice on restaurants and things to do in Honolulu. Over the years, we talked about our kids and vacations. It's hard to believe we won't be doing that anymore. My condolences to the family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Warren, in the brief, sporadic interactions we’ve had throughout the years, was often cracking jokes and making people laugh and over all a kind hearted soul. Wish I remember those jokes but may the laughter he brought bring smiles to all forever.  And from these interactions, he was a great father to Derek and a great husband to Alisha.  

Here’s to Warren. 

When I think about Warren, I can’t help but think of him as a kind of teddy bear. Always a big smile on his face. Never needy or imposing, always there when you need a friend. Thinking back on our times together, my head fills with the sound of his laugh. Maybe it’s fitting for a man hailing from volcanic islands. His laugh, that high-pitched, a little cackle-y, utterly sincere laugh that would explode from his belly and not so much end as trail off for just a little until the next eruption.

Warren, I remember when we were both applying for a scholarship in law school and you asked me to look over your personal essay. You had written about how you felt like your defining trait was having been infused with the Aloha Spirit from growing up in Hawaii. And I was a little critical. I told you that what you had written could have been written by anyone from Hawaii when it should have been something more uniquely about you. 

But I was wrong. I’m sorry. I didn’t know you well enough yet. Because as I think of you now I realize that no one embodied the Aloha Spirit like you did in your life and that your embodiment of Aloha was something that was absolutely, uniquely you. 

Your person will be missed. But your spirit, the Aloha Spirit you so embodied in your life, will live on and so you will live on. To your person, I say a sad goodbye. I will mourn the many future memories that had not yet come to pass. To your spirit, I say Aloha, I will carry a little part of you with me for the rest of my life and I will try to pass it on to my family and friends as you have done to yours.

I am deeply sorry to hear about your passing. My heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. The news of your passing was truly shocking, and I cannot imagine the pain and sorrow you and your family are feeling right now.

Warren 哥哥 was such a wonderful person, and I will always remember him for his kindness, generosity, and warm heart. He was always there for me, especially during my stay in Seattle. I remember the great times we spent together, playing baseball, discussing sports, and he showing me around the city. He even went out of his way to help me with my studies, took me to places to organise my paperwork on multiple occasions, and gave me advice on my interview skills, which I will never forget.

Warren 哥哥, although our time together was brief and we were unable to keep in touch since I left, you had such a positive impact on my life. Your kindness and generosity made me feel like I was a part of your family. You treated me like a younger brother during those years, and your warmth and welcoming nature made me feel at home even when I was far away from mine. I will always be grateful for your care, mentorship, and support.

The thought of not being able to see you or chat with you again when I return to the States fills me with sadness, but your presence in my life will never be forgotten. Warren 哥哥, I will always remember you with great respect and gratefulness, and I will always hold you dear in my heart.

To the Chinn Family, sister Alisha, and Derek, I know that his passing has left a huge void in your life, but please know that you are not alone. You have my and my family's deepest sympathy and condolences during this difficult time.

I found this photo in my album. It was taken a few years ago while I was still in America. My family and I were so shocked and sad to hear this tragic news. My heart was filled with deep sadness. It feels like it was still yesterday when I lived with Uncle Yang and their extended family in the US. I received so much dedicated care from Warren 大哥哥, who cared for me in various day-to-day details. He always got up early on the weekend mornings, made us a hot breakfast, took us for a walk, planted the veggies in the garden, cared for every one of us in the family, and cared about my studies and career and more things than I can list out in here. His words and actions often make me feel the warmth of home, even when I am alone outside.

Thank you for bringing me many beautiful memories. Although you left us in a hurry, you will always be remembered in my heart. 

2019 Salmon days in Issaquah.. I took a picture of the crowd.  When I looked back at what I had taken I thought to myself... "Isnt that Warren?!"  He was standing in line waiting to get a cool treat on a hot day.  Fun memory.  I am so fortunate to have known you my friend.

We have known Warren for 18 years and consider the Chinns our “extended family” as both my wife and I are foreign born.  To this day we are in disbelief and can’t process what happened.  Our hearts are filled with sorrow and we have been thinking about Alisha and Derek every day.  Warren was always such a pleasure to be around, and we were blessed to spend time with him, travel with the Chinns; we can honestly say he will be missed dearly.  He always had honest and unbiased advise for us, and his knowledge of Football, and all things MCU was second to none.  

Warren was a colleague and friend of mine. We met at the Evanston Office first in 2005 and then more regularly when I moved into the space in 2009.  When I first met him, he was working on a hard case and his demeanor was so grumpy, I thought that was his way. Ha! Little did I know that when that case passed and I attended the office regularly, he was the kindest, funniest, most supportive colleague you could ask for. He love to talk all things Marvel and Star Wars, helping me figure out weird plot points that only the most avid fan would know. He LOVED taking his son to the movies and gave me accurate reviews. We will miss him so much. My condolences to his family.

I am so very saddened by the loss of my friend of 20+ years.  Warren and I met as 1L’s in law school. We became fast friends in professor Silverman’s Property class.  We frequently spent time together at school and socially. 

As we graduated school, Warren and I studied for the bar exam together daily.   This photo was from the day we finished the bar exam in 2002. 

As we moved into our “adult” lives Warren and I remained close.  We would celebrate his birthday with “lobsterfest” and he was there when my first daughter was born.   I remember celebrating his marriage to Alicia and how happy Warren was to find the love of his life. 

As time moved on and we became busier, we always kept in touch. Up until Covid, we met quarterly for lunch to catch up and talk about our life and families. Often with our friend Matt.  Our last outing was hitting golf balls and enjoying a beautiful Seattle day.  I snapped this photo of him that day. 

I will always remember his calm demeanor, his kind heart and his love of the Miami Dolphins. I will miss him.

My deepest condolences to the family of Warren Chinn.  He is loved and will be dearly missed.

Not going to lie, but this one hurts.   Warren and I go way back to toddler days.  He was like a big brother to me.  We grew up together and I have so many fond memories of beach outings, family parties, birthdays, dinners and holidays.  I always looked forward to seeing him at get togethers.  

As adults our careers and family lives basically took us down different roads and we hardly saw each other,  but we kept in touch through Facebook.  It wouldn’t matter though.  We have an unspoken friendship that was so deeply rooted, 30 years could pass and then when we finally would see each other again we could pick up right where we left off.  
Nothing changes, except that we will have to wait a bit longer for our reunion.  When that day comes we will greet each other with open arms and again pick up right where we left off.  Rest in peace and love brother.  

Camping/beach outings with Warren and the rest of the gang are some of the best memories I have of our childhood.  Here is a photo of what I believe to be our last one before we all went out separate ways.

My name is Ahoua. As others have said, Warren was a kind, thoughtful and generous person.  I shared an office suite with him and after I moved out, we stayed in touch and every time I reached out to him, he made time to chat and brainstorm potential solutions to the issue at hand. Just last week I was planning to contact him for another referral case when I heard the shocking news of his passing. He will be dearly missed by many. 

To his immediate family, please receive my sincere condolences and may you find comfort in your memories of him. He touched many lives. 

Gege Warren was my first friend in college. We sat in the back of Mandarin class and got scolded by our feisty Lu laoshi  for having shameful accents.  Warren always made time for his friends, no matter how crazy life got, and I love that our friendship lasted well after we both moved away from Hawaii. He unsuccessfully tried to talk me into law school (ha!) and supported all of my crazy life choices. Warren, your passing shocked me to my core and I miss you terribly. 

Warren as with all his family and members are also our family as well. Warren has always been great and had a charisma about him that made him irresistible to others. His greatest assest was his mind and as far as all of us are in concerned Warren was the best Lawyer in all of Bellevue, Wa. If not the best in all of Washington State. Warren was a good guy, he stood for goodness, righteousness, passion. He was a super hero of Washington State and for all of our families he will be very, very, very, very missed. We all know where to look for Warren as he is deeply, very deeply embedded in all of our hearts and we all love him with all of ours. We reach out to his beloved wife and son, whom we also all love with all our hearts. We are all here for you. My family and I are saddened to hear that Warren has left us at the prime of his age.  We consider ourselves as a family friend of the Chinn family.  Our kids grew up together and we have a lot of good memories of Warren.

I shared office space with Warren for about 2 years. During that time I got to know him as a kind, warm human being that always had a smile. Even after I left the offices, I would talk to him here and there and get updates on his life. I am in shock and saddened that he has left this world so suddenly. He will be truly missed.

He’s great help and partner for Kenneth and I always remember his companionship when I have to wait for Kenneth!
