She was born in Bulloch County, Georgia to Samuel J. and Katie NeSmith Foss. She was the third of three cherished children. Her family worked hard in their fields of cotton and sugar cane, while their home was filled with joy and laughter, even in the hardest of times.
Faye would meet her husband, H.O. at Camp Stewart, Georgia while working as an officer’s assistant there. They would marry in May of 1954 and build a happy home for their three children. Through the years they would live in several places, but in time in 1970, they would move to Bella Vista, Arkansas. They would enjoy these years of raising their children and would make this area their home.
Faye always would remark that she loved being a wife and mother, and it showed. Her children respected and loved her greatly. She believed in them and was proud of them. Her encouragement created an environment of bravery in her children to live life to the fullest. Faye’s warmth and positive outlook on life could make anyone feel valued and welcomed, no matter what their age. Babies and children were a particular joy to her.
Faye enjoyed the game of golf and the close friendships she made during the many years she played. After 25 years of marriage and the passing of her beloved husband, "Frenchie," some years later she would meet David Jeffery who shared the same love of the sport. They would remain married for 40 years.
She loved being surrounded by nature and felt closest to God there. She lived out her faith through her compassion and interest in others. And at the end of life, her faith in Jesus gave her a confident peace. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Rogers.
An excellent seamstress, Faye created countless keepsakes for several generations of her family. She would always say it was a labor of love. She was a fun memory-maker for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who adored her. She loved nothing more than to get down on the floor and play with them. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire and uplift her family for generations to come. She was beautiful and lovely always, and will be missed immensely.
Faye is survived by her children: Kimberly “Kim” Lake (Jeff), Katie “Sissy” Crawford (Eddie), and Harrison “Hof” French (Rhonda); five granddaughters: Amanda Young (Russell), Elizabeth Pulliam (Blane), Hannah Peterson (Zach), Emma Slone (Kyle), Carolina Minervini (Henry), nine great-grandchildren, and her granddog, Simba.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Samuel J. And Katie NeSmith Foss, first husband, Harrison O French Jr., second husband David E. Jeffery, sister Mary Foss Miller, and brother, Thomas Foss.
On Thursday, December 4th, a visitation will be held in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 201 NW 2nd Street, Bentonville, AR 72712 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
