

Mary Joyce Styron, a beloved and cherished member of the Rogers, Arkansas community, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on May 23, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, Mary led a life dedicated to caring for others and making a positive impact through her work and family.
Mary pursued her passion for nursing by attending nursing school at St. Thomas Hospital in Akron, Ohio, where she graduated and became a registered nurse in September 1959. Her career was marked by her role as the OR Head Nurse at St. Anthony's in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, from 1966 to 1971. She further served as an NWA Migrant Nurse from 1972 to 1975 and later as a school nurse for the Rogers School District from 1975 until her retirement in 1998.
As the eldest of seven siblings, Mary was a family-oriented individual. On November 19, 1965, she married Stephen P. Styron. Together, they raised a loving family, including Kim Styron RN of Rogers, Jill Smith (Brent) of Rogers, Arkansas, and Michael Styron (Carol) of Bella Vista. She was also a proud grandmother to Avery Styron and Shepherd Styron. Her family extended beyond her immediate relatives, including her best friend Karla and her Texas family, Emily Smith; Bailey and Jordan Derryberry. Bruce Lee Styron, known as the Best Dog in America, was also a cherished part of her family.
In her personal life, Mary was a lover of Sonic Onion Rings, a simple pleasure that brought her joy.
Mary Joyce Styron's legacy of care, love, and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to Roger’s ASPCA Animal Shelter in her honor - 405 E Nursery Rd, Rogers, AR 72758 - (479) 636-3703.
