

William Dale Hastings, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by love at the Circle of Life Legacy Village in Bentonville on Saturday, August 4, 2012. William was born November 30, 1929 to the late Thomas and Eula Fern (Wilson) Hastings in Topeka, Kansas.
A long time resident of Bentonville and most recently a resident of Jamestown Nursing and Rehab, William was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving proudly from 1947-1967. He served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Hastings was a member and deacon of the Lakeview Baptist Church in Cave Springs.
He was employed many years at Cooper Communities of Bella Vista upon his retirement.
Mr. Hastings is preceded in death by his sister, Anna Hastings, brothers, Ralph and Leslie Hastings, and his parents.
His survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Zena Beth Venneberg Hastings, whom he married June 5, 1954. His three children also survive him, Linda Land and Jim Gideon of Centerton, Kathy and Frank Whelchel of Rogers and Will and Jackie Hastings of Ft. Wayne, IN.
He was called Papaw by his precious grandchildren who also survive him, Cory Land, Zachary and Jessie Whelchel, Blake, Payton and Ayden Hastings, and Zack Berris.
He is also survived by his sister Leona Mae Young of Lemon Grove, CA and nephew George Walter of Chino, CA; sister-in-law, Josie Venneberg of Bentonville, niece Lisa and Darryl Graham and their children Stephen and Stephanie of Cave Springs, and many other nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hastings visitation will be at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Bentonville from 4-7pm Wednesday, August 8, 2012.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 10:00am at Lakeview Baptist Church, Cave Springs. Officiating at William’s service are Rev. Johnny Harp, Rev. Pat Robinson and Pastor Derry Birdsong. Pallbearers are the deacons from Lakeview Baptist Church. He will be buried with full military honors at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville following the service.
We would love to take this chance to thank the amazing staff at Jamestown Health and Rehab for all of their love and care they gave William the 1 ½ years he was a resident there.
We would also like to thank the staff at Mercy Medical Center, Rogers for the very best medical care and to Legacy Village Hospice who gave him such loving care his last day of life. We also want to express our love to Legacy Village for taking such good care of us also. A special thank you to Johnny Harp, Mark Smittle, Derry Birdsong, Aunt Josie and Lisa for all they did for dad and our family during this extremely difficult time.
