Charles "Sonny" Tyson

Charles “Sonny” Tyson age 66 went to be with his Lord on September 17, 2013. Charles was born on December 19, 1946 to Carl Tyson and Era Mae Underwood. He married Carol Young who preceded him in death. Sonny later married Cynthia Tyson. Sonny is survived by his wife Cynthia, son Rick Tyson, daughter Donna Clifton and husband Tony, step children Melissa Kraft and husband Justin, Kevin Arburtha, and Michelle Miller. He was blessed with 8 grand kids: Jordan Tyson and wife Jessica, Jessica Edsall and husband Mike, Taylor Tyson, Amber Clifton, Anthony Clifton, Drew Kraft, Zaida Kraft and Korbyn Kraft. He had four great grand kids: Jordan Tyson II, Michael Edsall, Tony Clifton Jr., and Daphne Stiles; ten brothers and sisters: Curt Carney, Richard Carney, Calvin Carney, Thurman Carney, Darlene Seely, Dean Tyson and Carlene Standifer, Gloria Battice, Nora Lampkin, and Carl Tyson. He was preceded in death by his mother Era Mae, father Carl Tyson, and brothers Melvin “Gube” Underwood, Cecil Carney and Willie Tyson. Sonny proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1973-1983. He was employed by the US Postal Service as a letter carrier for 21 years retiring in 2004. Sonny enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, camping and spending time with family and friends. Services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday at Victory Church with burial to follow at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery.
