Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and friend, Debra “Debbie” Sue Barter, 60, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2018. Debbie was born December 27, 1957 in El Dorado, Kansas to Arnold and Lorraine (Klein) Thummel. In the early 70’s, her family moved to Oklahoma City and planted their roots. Debbie graduated from Putnam City West in 1975. On August 6, 1976, she married her soul mate and best friend, Joseph Barter. Debbie was the heart and soul of her family. She loved them unconditionally and they loved her the same. Debbie was one of the most generous, compassionate and giving people most had ever been around, and your life was enriched just by knowing her. She loved good music, especially the Rolling Stones, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and most of all, her grandbabies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Mindy Sue Barter; brother, Don Thummel, and sister, Connie Thummel.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Joseph Barter; sons, Joseph Barter, Jr and wife Stephanie and Jacob Barter; grandsons, Jerek and Jaden Barter; brothers, Alan Thummel and wife Karen, and Craig Thummel; a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Visitation will be 3pm-6pm Sunday and 8am-8pm Monday at Bill Merritt Funeral Home.
A wake service will be 7pm Monday at Bill Merritt Funeral Service.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Tuesday at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Interment will be 3pm Tuesday at Frederick Cemetery.
