Sister Diane Ewing was wafted by the angels from this world of trouble to the glories of Paradise on July 14, 2020. Her battles and sorrows are forever over, having now embraced her reward of eternal bliss.
Sister Diane (Wilson) Ewing was born on August 26th, 1955, in Cottage Grove, Oregon, to Scottie and Della Wilson. She graduated in 1973 from Cottage Grove High School with honors and was Salutatorian of her class. Sister Ewing began her career in banking, working in the trust department at Seafirst Bank for many years. She was later employed doing taxes, working in accounting, and as an assistant for an attorney. In the words of Bro. Daniel Layne, Sis. Ewing had "a mind like a lawyer," and her sharp mind and amazing memory enabled her to be a very able assistant in the temporal and business needs of the church throughout the years. On March 23, 1977, she was united in marriage to Patrick Russell Ewing. To this union, Heidi (Ewing) Glow was born on July 16, 1983. Sister Ewing enjoyed gardening, playing scrabble, writing poetry, and cooking healthfully, which Heidi grew to appreciate more with age.
She is survived by her mother, Della White; sisters, Patricia Cantwell and Joanne Watson; Heidi's father, Patrick Ewing; her daughter and son-in-law, Heidi and Lamar Glow; her beloved grandchildren, Eli Ewing, Elyse Ewing, Chandler Glow and Emily Glow; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of saints.
Sis. Ewing had a spiritual hunger and found salvation in her youth. God faithfully led her to His one, true fold in 1989. She came to us saved, and a student of the Word of God. Once she was doctrinally convinced, she took her stand with the living church of God and never wavered. She loved prayer and spending hours studying the Scriptures, and had recently started teaching Bible. A prayer warrior till the end, she could be counted on to bear other’s burdens until the answer came. Her intercessions before God will be greatly missed. She had a great burden for souls, with a special care for the people of Africa, where she often helped in outreaches over the years. Whether her contacts were on a foreign mission field or in her neighborhood, she faithfully prayed for them and kept in communication. Even on her deathbed she requested saints to maintain contact with these dear ones. Sis. Ewing’s hatred for evil caused her to be an exemplary example of carefulness and conscientiousness, challenging us all to live more blamelessly, without spot or wrinkle, as the children of God. While bedridden in recent months, our sister was amazingly calm and joyful, at times praising God and excitedly expressing her delight to know she would soon be released to go to Paradise. O death, where is thy sting for the holy! Truly, our sister fought a good fight, finished her course, kept the faith, and now enjoys the unspeakable reward of the faithful. And very soon, we will meet her again, for the last trump shall sound as Jesus Christ returns with power and great glory with the saints of all ages; and we will meet in the air, and so shall we ever be with the Lord!
