Frances E. Brown

Frances E Brown, 89, passed away on August 29th at Northhaven Place in Oklahoma City. She was born in New Holland, Illinois to Glenn and Velma Harper, and graduated from Petersburg High School where she developed a life-long love of reading. Fran married her High School sweetheart, Wayne Brown on Christmas Eve 1952. Wayne and Fran focused on their young family of one son and two daughters. As members of Council Road Baptist Church, they taught Sunday School and hosted many class parties. Later, as “empty nesters” their travels included cruises to the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, and the Panama Canal. They enjoyed 50 years of marriage until Wayne’s death in 2003. Fran held various bookkeeper and child daycare positions. She cherished activities with family and the time with them. She loved holding babies, especially grandbabies and great-grandbabies. Fran had a feisty sense of humor that made everyone smile. She loved walking her dog Maggie with neighbors at Stonebridge Cottages, and visiting with her friends at Northhaven Place. She is survived by brother Dennis (Janice) Harper; son, Ret. Col. Dave (Tomma Lou) Brown, daughter Diane (Robert) Manning; grandchildren, Jonathan (Chriselda) Dirrim, Michael (Becca) Dirrim, Emily (Zach) Megee; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Sophia, Abigail, Emeth, Toby, Jackson, and Eliana Dirrim. Fran was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband; daughter, Darla J. Dirrim and sister, Norma J Thomas.
