

Harrell Deaun Pickens 82 passed away, February 5, 2015 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Washington, Oklahoma to the union of James Franklin Pickens and Mellie Mary Montgomery on August 21, 1932. Harrell made a career in the Air Force as a Flight Engineer and served in the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. During his military service he traveled extensively throughout the world to include the Philippines. Harrell received numerous medals during his time in the Air Force. Some of the awards received were; Air Force Outstanding Unit, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award to name a few. He was honorably discharged at retirement reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. Harrell married Wilma Thomason on February 12, 1999. He was a member of the Church of the Servant where he volunteered about 10 years working on the sound system and helping to get the newsletter prepared for distribution and the American Legion Post 216. 2006 brought the challenge of Parkinson’s disease to Harrell, but he never let it stop him, or slow him from his daily living, he was an active participant in Parkinson’s Rehabilitation and the "Loud Crowd" that helped those with Parkinson's to keep theirs vocals strong through singing. Harrell is survived by his loving wife Wilma Pickens, son; Harrell Pickens Jr. daughters; Janie Reeves and Linda Malone, brother, Farrell Pickens and stepsons; Tom and Gary Romberger, Wilma's girls; Kym Thurman and Karla Smith, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Full Military Honors at Grave side will be performed by The Air Force Honor Guard.
