Helen Ruth Basey

Helen Ruth Basey, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 12, 2017. She was the 4th child of 8 children born to Mary and Olie Thompson born in Yukon, Oklahoma on June 29, 1923. She lived in Piedmont, Ok from birth to 1935 when her family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma.

She married Lester Wayne Basey, also from Piedmont on October 1, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

They lived in Britton, Oklahoma where they raised their 3 children, Jerry, Shirley, and Gary. Most of her married life was spent as a homemaker.

She was a member of Britton Christian Church where she was a member of the choir and attended services until moving to Dorset Place Assisted Living Center in 2014, at the age of 91.

She is survived by her son Jerry and wife Genie of Edmond, daughter Shirley Walker from OKC, and son Gary and wife Deana of OKC. One sister Jane Patterson of Edmond, two brothers Glen Thompson and wife, Jo of OKC, and Robert Thompson of Las Vegas, Nevada. Six grandchildren, Tom Basey and wife Lori of Edmond, Michael House and wife Amy of Edmond, Bryan Basey and wife Kelly of OKC, Shannon Snow and husband Jeremy of Edmond, Ok. Angela Esparza and husband Kenny of Rockwall, Texas and Mary Kathryn Conaway and Husband Brian of OKC, along with 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death by her husband Lester Basey, Parents Mary and Olie Thompson, brothers Clinton and Willard Thompson and sisters Mildred Baker and Estella Jordan.

The family would like to thank all those who lovingly took care of Helen in her last days. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Britvil Community Food Pantry. Memorial Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday February 15, 2017 at Britton Christian Church. Visitation will be Tuesday February 14, 2017 2:00 pm to 8:00 p.m.at the funeral home.
