

Hugh Jones, 89, of Oklahoma City, passed away on May 8th, 2013. He was born August 29th, 1923 in Little Rock, AR, the son of Henry and Maude Jones. He was the youngest of 3 siblings. In 1943, he married Ruth Ashworth Jones in Memphis, TN. He served as a gunnery instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He retired from William E. Davis and Sons in 1988. In his retirement years, he traveled to almost every state. He and Ruth were accomplished square dancers and performed in round dance exhibitions all over the country. Hugh and Ruth were faithful and active members of Putnam City Christian Church since 1961. Hugh served tirelessly in many capacities: choir, elder, taking communion to shut ins, helping with cleaning the facility and lawn care and mobile meals. Hugh was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it whether near or far. He greatly enjoyed his two granddaughters and great grandchildren. Hugh is survived by his son, Hugh (Larry) Jones and his wife Sue, his daughter, Lynn Harris, his daughter Debbie Best and her husband, Jim, granddaughters, Christi James and husband, Scott, Caren Yust and husband Jeff, great grandchildren, Luke, Jack and Zoey. Hugh was ready to meet his Lord in heaven and rejoin his beloved Ruth. Surely his little dog Mokins, ever his protector, and his cat Buford will be very happy to see him as well!
