Kathryn (Katie) Ethel Lemon, known to her family as “Meme” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at the age of 100 years. She was born July 17, 1918 in Midland, Arkansas to Elvie Lois (Philpott) and Erie Vitatoe in the back of their general store and was the fourth of five children. Katie graduated from Heavener High School in Heavener, OK then moved to Oklahoma City to attend Draughon’s Business School. She worked as an office manager at various businesses and retired from Balfour Ring Company. She enjoyed retirement by traveling throughout the United States and Mexico with her husband, Vick. Her hobbies included drinking coffee, embroidery, antiquing, drinking coffee, shopping with friends, fishing, winning at cards and dominos by nefarious ways and drinking even more coffee. She especially treasured spending time with her family and friends including making Christmas candy and having sleep-overs with her great-granddaughters. Katie attended Metropolitan Baptist Church until she was no longer physically able. She then joined a bible study at St. Ann’s Independent Living, where she resided until she was 95 years old. Katie was spunky, strong-willed, extremely quick-witted, gifted at making others feel special and just really fun to be around. She will be greatly missed until we join her in heaven in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
