Ken Urban

Our father, Kenneth Joseph Urban went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at the age of 86. Ken was born January 10, 1936 in St. Paul, MN to Everette Joseph and Bonita (Littlefield) Urban. He attended high school in St. Paul. Ken began working part-time for Wohl Shoe Company during high school and it turned into a long and successful career. Ken continued to be promoted and given more locations and responsibilities. In 1966 he moved to Oklahoma City to become the supervisor of 11 Streets locations. He was awarded Wohls “Man of the Year” in 1974. Ken enjoyed vintage car restoration, and was also an avid water sports enthusiast, he and his family spent many summers at numerous lakes enjoying skiing and boating. He was also a physical fitness devotee and held a long-standing health club membership. Ken had a green thumb and loved gardening and landscaping his yard, he often mentions how he liked to watch things grow. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patty Nimis and niece, Susan Nimis. He is survived by 3 children, Kerrie Melton and husband, Monte of Guthrie, Rob Urban of OKC and Julie Whittaker and husband, Dennis of Yukon, 2 grandchildren, Ryan Smith of Yukon and Kristen Todd and husband, Michael of Tahlequah, 4 great grandchildren, Blake Todd, Kyleigh Todd, Katya Smith and R. J. Smith, sister, Carol Johnson and husband, Dale of Big Lake, MN and many other relatives and friends. He will be truly missed.
