

Loy Allen Lockwood, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2025. He was born on August 10, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to devoted parents, Ervin Silas and Mary Alice (McCollough) Lockwood.
As a lifelong Oklahoman, Loy lived in Oklahoma City for much of his life before settling in Edmond, where he spent the last twenty-five years cherishing his home and acreage.
Loy was first married to Betty Jane Filippo who preceded him in death. On June 25, 1982, he married the love of his life, Karen Ann Harkey, and the two shared over four decades of love and partnership.
Loy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central State College (now known as the University of Central Oklahoma). He proudly served his country in the United States Army for three years. An accomplished entrepreneur, Loy launched an advertising and printing company in the 1970s, followed by a real estate investment enterprise in the 1980s. He later operated a security investment business, which he continued to run until his passing.
Loy was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to supporting and mentoring the youth in his community.
His passion for business inspired many around him, and his legacy as an entrepreneur lives on through those he mentored. Above all, Loy loved spending time with his family. Whether sharing laughter with his grandchildren or offering business advice, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Loy was preceded in death by his siblings Landon Lockwood, Gerald Lockwood, Mary Evelyn Lockwood, June Lockwood, Marjorie Johnston, Jeannie Rifen, Holly Best, Patsy Hagen, and Jody Nichols.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Ann Lockwood; his children Robert James Lockwood and wife, Kecia DeAnn of Mustang, Oklahoma, Russell Scudder and wife, Anne, Lance Scudder and wife, Kristel Wickam, Tracey Givens and husband Joe Grabenhauer; his brothers Lynn Lockwood and wife Carmen of Oklahoma City, Larry Lockwood and wife, Nellie , of Garden Grove, California, Janell Dawson of Edmond Oklahoma, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.
A Celebration of Life service for Loy will be Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Resurrection Memorial Chapel, 7500 W. Britton Rd, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132.
