Mary Lucille Cartmill was born to Joseph M. Keith and Mary Gilmer Keith on December 5, 1919 in Navina, OK. Her mother died when she was 11 months old. Since her father already had a five year old to care for, he gave Mary Lucille to Reuben L Fields and Sarah Frances “Frankie W Fields, who lived nearby. The Fields wished to adopt Mary Lucille, but Joe would not allow it. She grew up with the Fields family, but always kept in touch with the Keiths. She graduated from Cashion High School in 1940 and attended
Central State Normal School (UCO). On Nov 16, 1940, she married Tom Cartmill, whose brother was married to Mary Lucille’s sister. Their first child, Linda, was born while Tom was in the South Pacific in WWII. When Tom returned, they moved to Oklahoma City where their son, Marvin, was born. Mary joined Wesley Methodist Church in 1945, and both she and Tom were very active until their health prevented them from attending. Mary starting working for the John A Brown Co in 1957, and worked for Mistletoe Express until her retirement. She was an avid fan of most of the OU athletic teams, her beloved “Cubbies”, and the Thunder. She was preceded in death by both sets of parents, nine half brothers and sisters, one full brother, plus her full sister, her husband Tom, and their son, Marvin. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Dallas), grandson, Les Evans (Cory), great-grandson, Zane, daughter-in-law, Janet, and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Sherri and Larry who spent much time with her. There will be a private burial
at Whisler Cemetery. We are hoping to have a service at a later date.
