Melvin "Doyce" Doyce Jones

Doyce was born in Erick Oklahoma on March 19, 1929 to Hix and Mabel Jones. After moving to Reed Oklahoma, Doyce attended Vinson Oklahoma Schools and Reed High School where he graduated in May 1947. After graduation he met and fell in love with Creta Faye Snow and married her August 27, 1948. They resided in Mangum Oklahoma until they moved to Oklahoma City after the birth of their only child Janet Sue York in 1952. They were married almost 67 years upon Creta Faye’s death on February 19, 2016.

Doyce worked for TG&Y stores in Oklahoma City and retired from Oklahoma Truck Supply in December 31, 2000. After retiring Doyce loved to fish and was always ready for a good game of dominos. He loved working in the yard and taking care of his beloved wife. Upon her death he moved to Lionwood Retirement Center in Oklahoma City where he enjoyed a fun and comfortable lifestyle.

Doyce is preceded in death by his wife Creta Faye Jones, parents Hix and Mable Jones, baby boy Jones, his wife’s parents Sim and Zora Snow, baby boy Snow, as well as six brother in laws and 4 sister in laws.

He is survived by his sister Hilda Moore, daughter Janet York and husband Terry, grandsons Steven and Clint York, 4 great grandchildren, one brother in law Bailey Snow, 2 sister in laws Nita Snow and Dorthy Snow, and several nieces and nephews.

Doyce was also an active member of Village Baptist Church and loved his church family.
