She was adopted at birth by Robert P. and Cecile B. Cortis, becoming their only child. Molly grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan, and graduated from Royal Oak High School. She attended Albion College before the family moved to Oklahoma City when she was 19. She attended Oklahoma City University, where she met Jack Sherry. They married in 1952 and had two daughters, Marilynn and Kathryn.
Molly was a homemaker, preschool teacher and a reservationist for Hertz. She was a longtime member of All Souls Episcopal Church.
Over the years, she enjoyed bridge, puzzles, music (from Beethoven to Tony Bennett to Top 40 hits she played for her grandkids), walks in the neighborhood and at Lake Hefner, watching sports (college basketball and football, golf, tennis) and movies (especially if they starred Al Pacino), and caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family is thankful for the staff at Bellevue Health & Rehabilitation Center for the compassionate care she received.
Molly is survived by her daughters Lynn (Frank) Kellert of Oklahoma City, and Kathy (Michael) McNutt of Edmond; grandchildren Jacob (Anna Williams) Kellert of Hood River, Oregon, Aaron Kellert of Oklahoma City, and Brydget Snook of Nixa, Missouri; and great-grandchildren Taylor, Eli, Claire, Noah and Preston Kellert, and Lucy and Will Snook.
Memorials may be made in Molly’s name to the Library Endowment Trust and directed to The Village Library or to the Oklahoma City Public Schools Foundation.
After a private memorial, the family will gather Saturday at Johnnie’s Charcoal Broiler, 2652 W Britton Road, one of her favorite restaurants. Friends are welcome to drop by between 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
