Robert "Pete" C. Smith

Robert “Pete” Cecil Smith, age 79, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022. He was born August 25, 1942 in Greenville, South Carolina to William Alexander Smith and Ruth Hazel Mason. Pete met the love of his life, Mary Yearwood, and they married on December 23, 1961. In March of 1962, Pete was drafted into the United States Army. He served for a total of 6 years before being honorably discharged. Pete was a truck driver and worked for numerous companies, eventually retiring from Kerr McGee. In his younger years, he was a very talented baseball player. He loved golfing, camping, Donald Duck, and picking up tools off the side of the road. Above all, Pete loved his family and spending time with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Teresa Hammond; brothers, James Smith and Larry Smith; and grandson, Jacob Perich. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Smith; son and daughter-in-love, Robert and Keli Smith; daughter, Trudy Smith; son-in-law Remie Hammond; grandchildren, Cory and Kara, Cale and Lindsey, Ann Marie, Daniel and Chloe; 8 great grandchildren; several siblings; and a host of other family and friends.

The family has requested donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Pete’s honor.
