Russell Aidan Crowe, born September 21st 1959, passed away peacefully on March 22nd, 2014 after an unexpected illness. He is preceded in his death by his mother Elizabeth (Ashworth) Crowe. Russell was born in Dublin Ireland to Frank and Elizabeth Crowe. In his youth his family moved to Oklahoma City, where Russell was raised and lived his wonderful life. Russell attended Western Oaks Elementary, and Junior High schools. He graduated from Putnam City High School in 1977. He soon started work at Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies for the next 25 years. He became a tester there and exceeded at his job. Russell also got into real estate and owned several rental properties. He loved buying old houses and cars as well, and fixing them up to either enjoy as his own or just to sell. He loved sports, especially Oklahoma Football and Professional Football. In 1996 Russell met Carolyn Short, and they married in 1999. Russell and Carolyn loved to travel and spend quiet evenings at home barbequing steaks and watching movies.
Russell also loved animals, as a boy he was always bringing home stray dogs and begging his parents to adopt them. As an adult, Russell loved filling squirrel and bird feeders in his backyard and just relaxing outside with his wife Carolyn while enjoying the wildlife. He also loved his pet dogs more than just about anything. His latest dogs include Groucho, Gizmo, and Goldie. They brought him great joy and they already miss him greatly! He will be greatly missed by many many friends and family.
Russell was of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Crowe of Oklahoma City, OK, His Father, Dr. Frank Crowe of Fairview Ok. Carolyn’s son, and Russell’s stepson, Robert Hawkins of Ventura California, his older sister, Sharon Polk of Las Vegas, Nevada, his younger brother Curtis Crowe of Yukon, Ok. , his two nieces Danielle Polk of Las Vegas NV. and Alexandra Polk of New York, N.Y. his aunt, Jean Ashworth and his cousin Laura Aultman of Bethany Ok. ,
In lieu of flowers, Russell’s family asks that you make a donation to your favorite charity. Services will be held at Bill Merritt Funeral Home 6201 N.W. 39th Bethany, Oklahoma on Tuesday March 25th @ 2:00 p.m. Bethany, Oklahoma. There will be a viewing on Monday evening @ 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bill Merritt Funeral Home.
