Shirley Prince passed from this world February 8, 2021 in Oklahoma City, surrounded by love and music from her family, after endocarditis and strokes. She dearly loved and cheered on her children and grandchildren. Shirley and her husband Curtis Prince raised their children with education as a top priority, since they saw the lack of opportunity they faced without college degrees. They both worked hard to earn college credits. Her children were so proud of her when, in 1997, Shirley earned a B.S. degree in Organizational Leadership from Southern Nazarene University.
Shirley McBride was born January 6, 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana, where her family briefly lived. She grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she married Curtis D. Prince August 10, 1963, lived for decades, taught Kindergarten at Heritage Christian Schools, and was a Sign Language interpreter and Sunday School teacher at Heritage Baptist Temple. She retired from AT&T/Lucent’s OKC plant as a purchasing expeditor and enjoyed working with suppliers and shippers all over the world. In her retirement, she was a substitute teacher for OKC schools.
Shirley is survived by her children: Curt, Tracy (Scott Schaffer), Tim, Sean (Patricia), and Linda Prince; grandchildren: Autumn Cowns Prince, Austin, Taylor, Ashley, Collin, and Cooper Prince, Graisen Turner-Prince, Zadie and Price Schaffer; siblings: Teena Vise, Walter McBride Jr., and Tommy McBride; and many nieces and nephews.
