I met Angelos,his siblings and family in 1978,when I started working for him and Tony,in the constrution business.They all became a big part of my life in the first few years in B'ham.He always had a smile and was a great boss.I went to his 70 yr birthday party and saw alot of people I hadnt seen in a while.The last I saw him was at the Greek festival,cooking sovlakia,with Tony.He was a great man and will be missed.RIP, Marshall Lee

I met Angelo in 1950 at Bush Elementary School,soon after his citizenship to the USA.  I remember his strong work ethic and his eagerness to work with his dad each day after school and week-ends.  Angelo and I were the only Bass singers in Ms. Carlton's Vocal Class.  He could get down to a low 'G' and had a beautiful singing voice.  I enjoyed his friendship and our playing ball.

We at the American Village were incredibly blessed that Angelos Petelos came on the scene and shepherded the construction and completion of the Lucille R. Thompson Colonial Chapel.  He brought not only skill, but his great and large heart, humanity, humility and humor.  He lived out his faith in his daily walk of life.  All who knew Angelos were blessed. Beautifully written story of a truly inspirational family man. This world and many people's lives have been enriched by his humble, yet enthusiastic touch. May God welcome him into heaven with all the joy that Angelos welcomed his family and friends! Angelos had a way of making each of us feel special, but he was the special one.

I came to know Angelo very well in the mid-1970s.  What a character he was!  May he rest in peace.  My deepest sympathy goes out to his family.....

I first met Angelo's Petelos,  in the middle 60's when he remodeled my mother/father's  home, he was always so cheerful and no matter he spoke of family  so it like we knew them, and what really surprised me 3 or 4 years ago I saw him at the Fish Market on south side and he remembered me from a little girl he smiled and hugged me. ,that'swhat I will remember! Angelos , you fought a good fight ,you finished the race.,now rest in the arms of Jesus! And you my mom and have gone to be with the Lord, but the you remodel is still beautiful!

Oh, my! What a wonderful tribute to an obviously worthy man. I did not have the pleasure of knowing this Mr. Petelos, but, as a genealogy researcher, it is inspiring to see this. Another story of an immigrant to America with little more than the clothes on his back and did so very much for America and Birmingham. God Bless him and his survivors. Tony, what a life your brother had. He was a blessing to his family, especially your mother and your siblings. Everyone would have loved to have a big brother like Angelos, I know I would have.

May he find peace in heaven and for those who knew him well may they find comfort that he is at peace with God.

May his memory be eternal! Angelo is a great man, whose voice is now in the  Liturgy in Heaven, to be heard by those blessed ones there.
