Mrs. Carol J. Forehand, age 79, entered the Church Triumphant on June 27, 2023. She was a beautiful, creative, giving soul – an artist and a woman of unwavering faith. Even in her final days, her concern was for others rather than for herself. Her mission in life was to bring comfort and joy to others in whatever ways she could. Sometimes that was through sharing her artwork and often it was through simple acts of kindness and love meant to lift the spirit of each person she encountered.
Carol was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 10, 1943, to the late Charles J. Rutherford and Mildred E. Rutherford. She was raised in the Juniata Park neighborhood in northeast Philly, just a few blocks from her beloved late Aunt Dot (Doris Reed) and her family. She was especially close to her late cousin Jack Reed, who was like a brother to her. She also lived just a few blocks from her future husband, Bobby (Robert Worcester).
She and Bobby spent several years living in the Philadelphia area and in Edgewater Park, NJ before moving to Panama City, FL in 1979. They quickly embraced the charm and ease of southern coastal life, but “Philly” was forever in their hearts.
She was predeceased by Bob Worcester, and by her second husband of 26 years, John Forehand of Parker, FL, with whom she shared many adventures. She especially cherished the time she spent boating with John.
Carol was a devoted friend, mother, grandmother, and aunt who adored her family and dear friends – old and new, near and far. She is survived by her son, Thomas Worcester (Angie) of Lynn Haven, FL; her daughter, Sharon Worcester (Brian Herbert) of Birmingham, AL; her stepson, Terry Forehand (Jeanie) of Wewahitchka, FL; her grandchildren, Robert, Anna, and Steven Worcester of Lynn Haven and Panama City Beach, FL, Zachary Herbert of Birmingham, AL, Chloe Herbert of Honolulu, HI, and her step-grandchildren, Christopher Forehand of Oahu, HI, Brooke Herbert of Lynn Haven, and Nicollette Strickland (Jacob) of Panama City, as well as three precious great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her stepson, Lowell Forehand of Panama City.
A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held Sunday, July 2nd at 1 p.m. CDT in the sanctuary at Edgewood Presbyterian Church, 850 Oxmoor Rd., Birmingham, AL, 35209, with the Rev. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 9, from 1-3 p.m. at the home of Tom and Angie Worcester, 816 Delaware Ave., Lynn Haven, FL 32444.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials and remembrances be made in Carol’s honor to a favorite charity or to Edgewood Presbyterian Church to help further the missions of the church she loved so much.
