To the family of Dr Kahn -  I only recently learned of Dr Kahn's passing.  He is part of a journal I am writing & I thought I'd look him up to see where he was & how he was doing.  I met Dr Kahn 44 yrs ago.  It was a brief mtg, he introduced himself & explained how he was going to do my heart surgery.  I had suffered traumatic heart injury due to a bad work accident.  All the other Doctors said it was a miracle I survived.  Dr Kahn repaired my heart & his work lasted 44 yrs.  I bumped into him at a State Street restaurant years later & thanked him for giving me my life back.  5 wks ago I had valve replacement surgery - Dr Kahn said someday I would need more work.  The cardiac specialists at UW hospital review my file from 1972 & were impressed that Dr Kahn did my initial surgery.  Your dad/husband gave me 44 wonderful years -- my family & I are so thankful for that!!

Dear Liz, Gabe, Gayle, Don, Tammy, Ellen, Shirley and families,

Don was a significant person in our lives as we were growing up in Ann Arbor.  My Dad had tremendous respect for him professionally and personally.  I remember Dr. Kahn as the fun dad who always treated us with kindness, respect, patience, and a sense of humor.  My entire family is sorry for your loss, and we wish you comfort and healing in sweet memories.
