

Elna Bolding Shugerman was born to Charlie Calvin Bolding and Fairy Sullivan Bolding on January 23, 1928, in Amory, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Charles Dixon Bolding, and her husband, Dr. Alwyn A. Shugerman. She graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1945. She continued her education at the University of Alabama earning a Bachelor of Science. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Psi Sorority and worked as a Medical Technologist in the field of Hematology prior to becoming a full-time homemaker. She was a member of Canterbury United Methodist Church, and past member of the Gaieties Club, Coronet Club and Progress Study Club. Playing bridge with her various groups of friends was her favorite pastime. She is survived by her children, Anne Thompson (Steve), Nancy Marriott, and Harry Shugerman (Jurate), and grandchildren, Andrew Thompson, Jason Thompson, Thomas Marriott, and Isabella Shugerman. She is further survived by Sheila Shugerman (widow of Dr. Earle Shugerman). The family will receive friends at 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, December 21, 2019 in the parlor at Canterbury United Methodist Church, Birmingham, AL, 350 Overbrook Road. A memorial service will be held in the Canterbury United Methodist Church Chapel at 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
