

Jeana Bradley Peeler Hosch, 57, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on May 31 after a courageous battle with cancer. The daughter of the late Senator and Mrs. William James Peeler, Jeana was born in Nashville, Tennessee on April 4, 1955. She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Heyward Carithers Hosch III, and her two daughters Mary Bradley Hosch Anderson (Frank Sherard Anderson), Caroline Carithers Hosch and her grandson, Frank Sherard Anderson, Jr. She is also survived by her two sisters, Nannette Peeler Bradley (Bill Bradley) and Jacqueline Peeler Safstrom (Doug Safstrom).
A native of Waverly, Tennessee, she was a resident of Mountain Brook, Alabama for 30 years. Jeana was graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1977 and from the Cumberland School of Law, Summa Cum Laude, as Salutatorian in 1986. She was highly accomplished with membership in American Journal of Trial Advocacy, Curia Honoris and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. She was awarded the American Jurisprudence Awards in Criminal Law, Contracts, Family Law, International Law, Estates, and Trusts & Wills and the CJS Book Award for Scholastic Achievement. Jeana was a member of the Alabama State Bar.
Jeana had a true heart of service for our community, as evidenced by her tremendous contributions over the years to the Cathedral of Saint Paul as Advocate for the Diocese of Birmingham, Highlands Sewing Circle and as a Lady of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. In addition to serving as Administrative Vice President of the Junior League of Birmingham, she was awarded the Service Award in 1993. Jeana was passionate about her commitment to the YWCA, serving as President of the Junior Board, on the Board of Directors, the YWCA Foundation Board and Maybelle Sloss Society. She served on the Mountain Brook City Schools Foundation, was President of the Friends of Emmet O’Neal Library, and was Chairman of the Mountain Brook Library Foundation.
Jeana was a brilliant lawyer, a loyal and loving friend with a servant’s heart, adoring wife and mother and above all, a woman of God. She was adored and will be missed forever by everyone with the privilege of knowing her.
A vigil and visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3 from 3:00-5:30, followed by a funeral Mass on Monday, June 4 at 10:00; both services will be held at the Cathedral of Saint Paul. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent in her name to the Cathedral of Saint Paul or the YWCA of Birmingham.
