

Dr. Kyoung-Mi “Kay” Min Li of Vestavia Hills, Alabama, passed away on February 18th, 2024, after bravely battling thymic carcinoma for two years. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 16th, 1970 in Chuncheon, South Korea.
Kay was a shining example of resilience, determination, generosity, selflessness, and love. Through her perseverance and hard work, she achieved her B.S. in Microbiology and M.S. in Immunology from Kangwon National University, and her M.S. in Immunology from University of Mississippi and PharmD from Samford University, after immigrating from Korea.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the guiding light that illuminated her path, installing in her a deep sense of compassion and kindness. She lived out her faith with unwavering devotion, finding solace and strength in her relationship with God.
She treated everyone she encountered with warmth, and she was always so generous to everyone she knew, even until the very end. Kay was a devoted mother who selflessly and sacrificially poured out her heart into providing the best for her children.
Kay will be dearly missed by her husband Dr. Jing Li and daughters Amy and Sarah, who were profoundly blessed to have shared their lives with such an extraordinary woman. She is also survived by her sister Kyoung Ae Min, brother In Kyoung Min, and mother Soonja Youn. She is preceded in death by her father Hyunkee Min.
A memorial service to celebrate Kay’s life will be held on March 1, 2024 at 2 PM at Shades Mountain Baptist Church Worship Center with a Reception following the Service at the Church at 2017 Columbiana Road, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35216. Friends and family are invited to attend and pay their respects.
You may give flowers for the service or make memorials to the Foundation for Thymic Cancer Research or the Thymic Carcinoma Center to promote research for this rare type of cancer, or the Amanda Pair Foundation that was close to her heart.
Kay’s light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all that knew her. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her love and legacy live on in the lives of those she touched.
