Maxine Ellenberger Williams peacefully entered eternity on Sunday, October 4, 2020. She was born in Helvetia, Pennsylvania on February 27, 1924. She graduated from Corning Free Academy in New York and The State University of New York-Geneseo, receiving her B.A. in Library Science. Maxine moved to Birmingham, Alabama after graduation and worked at UAB Medical School as a Circulation Librarian. She met her husband of 66 years, E. Keith Williams, at South Highland Presbyterian Church where she was an active member since 1947 and co-founder of the Builders Sunday School Class. Maxine was a past president of the Cherokee Forest Garden Club and a long time member of Community Bible Study. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith. She will be greatly missed by her children Mary Enfield W. Branch (Craig), Chris Williams (Robyn), Kitty W. Hester (Jeff), and Kim Williams, nine grandchildren and spouses, and ten great-grandchildren. A graveside service celebrating Maxine’s life will be Tuesday, October 13, noon, Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Highland Presbyterian Church, Community Bible Study, or a charitable ministry of your choice
