

Stanley Darrell Lawler died peacefully at home on March 9, 2024, at the age of 86. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sandra Goode Lawler, their daughters Stacey Lawler Taylor (Fonde), their children Thomas Taylor and Edward Taylor; Claire Lawler (Cole), their children Eve Taylor and Gus Taylor; Emily Lawler Perna (Sam), their children Grace Wolfe and Ella Wolfe and great-grandson, Jackson Lawler Rudolph.
Stanley was born on April 15, 1937, in Birmingham, AL. After graduating from Woodlawn High School, he joined the United States Army. Upon honorable discharge, he attended the University of Alabama, where he met the love of his life, his wife, Sandra. He graduated with a degree in business, and subsequently, with a law degree from Birmingham School of Law. He worked with his father, Delmas Darrell Lawler at Lawler Machine and Foundry. Upon his father’s death, he became President and owner of the company until 2023. He was known for his exceptional business acumen and always led the company with an indomitable spirit and compassion.
Stanley adored his family. He was a loving, loyal, and devoted husband, father, ‘Poppa’, and friend. Stanley was a man of endless generosity who made a positive and significant impact on the lives of everyone blessed to know him. He had a unique and quick sense of humor and an interest and respect for each person he encountered. He had an uncanny ability to make everyone he met feel comfortable and welcomed. We miss him. Service will be held Wednesday, March 20th at 2:00 pm at Grace Episcopal Church in Woodlawn (5712 1st Ave. N, 35212). Visitation will be from 12:15-1:45 in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, donations to Stanley’s beloved Grace Episcopal Church would be a wonderful way to honor his memory.
