TAYLOR, STELLA STEPHENS (SARINOPOULOS), age 88, died peacefully at her home in Pelham, Alabama on Dec. 4, 2011. She was born in Fairfield, Alabama on July 28, 1923. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Evangeline Stephens (Sarinopoulos) of Chios, Greece; her husband, Sam Taylor; sister, Margaret Kostopoulos and her brother, George Stephens. She is survived by her son, Steve Taylor and wife Brenda; grandson, Steve Taylor, Jr.; granddaughter, Stephanie and husband Lafe Murray; and sister, Jane and husband Soc Lorant. Stella began working as a young girl in her parents' confectionery and café in the early days of Fairfield. Later Stella worked for many years with her brother George at Steve's Pharmacy in Fairfield where she made many acquaintances and friends. Stella showed her love in many ways, one of which was giving away the pastries she made so abundantly every Christmas. She possessed a kind and loving spirit that made all that knew her, love her. She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister and everyone's favorite aunt. Most importantly, she loved God and her church. She was a life-long member of Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral. The family wishes to thank the following care-givers who took such exemplary care of her and loved Stella as though she were family: Teretha Moultry, Millie Bryant, Kathy Armstead and Jo Griffith. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 307 19th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35233. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:30 until 7:00 PM at the church with a Trisagion service at 7:00 PM.
