Ulmer: Mr. Joseph Ulmer, formerly of Bellevue, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 8th, 2003 surrounded by his family at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre at the age of 81 years.
Joseph was born on October 18, 1922 to Josef and Franziska Ulmer in Dingolfing, Bavaria, Germany. At the age of four years, Joseph immigrated to Canada with his parents. He met Mary Ladubec and was married on July 30, 1946; together they raised a loving family of four children. Joseph was heart-broken with Mary’s passing but for the sake of his children, he provided for them and devoted his life to their happiness. Several years later, Joseph’s was fortunate to meet another kind and compassionate lady, Ethel Glasser, and they were united in marriage on September 1, 1978.
Joseph spent many years as a Millwright with the local mines. His talent at fabricating and fixing all types of projects in his workshop was a passion that he enjoyed during his spare time at home.
Joseph was a kind and generous man who loved his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved gardening and pickling with Mary and later traveling with Ethel. He also loved to go bargain hunting seeking out value for the dollar. Although Joseph is now gone to his final resting place, he will forever remain in our hearts.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his sons, Ralph (Diane) Ulmer of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Vincent Ulmer of Red Deer, Alberta and Joseph (Brenda) Ulmer of Blairmore, Alberta; his daughter, Michele (Donald Pitt) Ulmer of Blairmore, Alberta; his grandchildren, Christopher (Christina) Ulmer, Dana (Kevin) Warburton, Sarah Ulmer and Devin Ulmer; his great grandchildren, Sydney, Benjamin, Emma and Caleb; his sisters-in-law, Elsie Duprey of Weston, Ontario, Olga Ladubec of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Helen Demetrioff of Peachland, British Columbia and Jeannette (Ernie) Babiuk of Calgary; numerous nieces and nephews and the many friends that he made throughout his lifetime.
