Mrs. Sylvia Patricia Amos

AMOS: Mrs. Sylvia “Sally” Amos (nee: Svoboda), beloved wife of the late Albert “Ted” Amos of Bellevue, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2005 at the Crowsnest Pass Health Care Centre in Blairmore at the glorious age of 91 years.

“Sally”, as she was affectionately known, was born on March 14, 1914 to Joseph and Mary Svoboda in Frank, Alberta. During her childhood years, Sally learned to appreciate the simple blessings in life and to be thankful for what you had. Sally blossomed into a lovely young lady and soon captured the affections of a dashing young man, Albert “Ted” Amos. They were married on June 26, 1937 and raised their family with unconditional love.

Sally loved gardening, cooking and baking, sewing, crafts, the majestic beauty of this area and the friendly members of this community. She often volunteered her time with the Frank Slide Interpretive Centre, CNP Historical Society, Hillcrest United Church organization, the Maplevue Hall Committee and later the Bellecrest Seniors, to name a few. She was a woman of great generosity and her zest for life made her friends wherever she went. Her greatest passion was her love for her family; she took pride in raising her children with respect and compassion and her heart was full with love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, granny, sister and friend and although we are deeply saddened by her passing, her memory and love will live forever in the hearts and minds of her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Dennis (Patti) Amos and Allan “Chuck” (Lorretta) Amos; her daughters, Elaine (Ed) May and Beverley “Joan” Carnahan; her grandchildren, Lanny, Sharla, Todd, Sherri, Kim, Maureen, Cindy, David, Michael, Jan, Wendy, Richard and Randy; her eleven great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Gillies; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, “Ted” Amos; her parents, Joseph and Mary Svoboda; her sisters, Anna and Frances; her brothers, Laddie, Joseph, James and Frank.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at Fantin’s Funeral Chapel in Blairmore with Reverend John Day officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband in the Passburg Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Lanny Amos, Michael May, David May, Richard Carnahan, Christopher Berry and Mark Berry. Honorary Pallbearers were: Todd Amos.
