Michael Barone

Mike was born in Newark, where he lived for many years before moving to Cedar Grove in1974. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and received 4 bronze stars. He was a member of the VFW in Cedar Grove Post #6255. He worked for Liberty Optical in Newark, Tasty Bread, and his most loved profession was that of a chef at The Fountain, The Meadowbrook, Angelo’s as well as his own , LMP’s Pizzeria.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Zarro Funeral Home,(www.zarrofuneralhome.net). 145 Harrison Street, Bloomfield, NJ. On Friday January 2nd at 9:00 am followed by a mass at 10:30am at St. Lucy’s Church, Newark. Visitation will be on Thursday January 1st from 3-7pm. The burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, N. Arlington. In lieu of flowers donations be made in Mike’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101.

Mike is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ramona (nee Albanese); loving children, Erma Pietrucha and fiancé Mike, Maria Hoffman and husband, Jerry and Mona Barone and husband, Matt; cherished grandchildren, Michele, Peter and Leighann; brother Joseph.

He was predeceased by his grandson, Jerry; parents, Joseph and Rose (nee Ferrara) Barone; siblings, Anthony, Rocco and Rosie.
