Our deepest sympathies.  i will remember him as cousin, Sonny.  Not sure where the name came from but my mom knew.  She loved him dearly and took his loss very hard.  Her nieces and nephews mean the world to her.  She always had a lot of stories about when she would babysit or they would come to their house to visit grandpa Canuto.  He always came to our parties and was so sweet with all of us, ever since we were little.

I’ll miss you uncle Sonny. In the big things & the little things. I’ll miss you being here on holidays, on  important days and the days that didn’t seem important, but now I realize how important they were. I’ll cherish our conversations over drinks, I’ll miss your sense of humor & I will miss watching The Twilight Zone with you. There is so much I’ll miss, and we should of had more time.

I'm met Ed atround 2004, at Bowlium lanes . I had to find. Anew activity, so I tried bowling and he offered to help me. So I took his Wednesday night league and Thursday night class. I was bad at it, and for 3 weeks he watched me holler and cuss with 16 lbs bowling balls. After, he asked if you wanted some help and I said "Hell yeah." Then he told me that I could make money at bowling and he was right. 7 months later I was making money by bowling. Then we started hanging out, trips to Vegas for Pro-Am and meeting up for dinner. Lately, we were having meals together 2 - 3 times a month. I am going to miss the wealth of knowledge, he was a sports library! Rest in peace my brother.  

I just wanted to send my deepest condolences to the family. And especially John. We ALL have heavy hearts . And I'm here for you cousin. I just wanted to thank Sonny for all the wonderful memories. In 1988 Sonny asked me if I wanted to play baseball ⚾ on his team . I hadn't played in a couple of years since high school. But jumped at the opportunity to play with him and my other cousins . What a great spring that was! I will never forget it . We ALL have a love for the game . It's in our blood. Thanks for ALL the memories Ed rip sir 

My Garcia cousins lived a block away from me in Fontana for 15 years. Growing up with them was the best.  Sonny was the oldest so admiring him was easy.  He was handsome, built for football and smart! He was always sweet and his smile infectious.  He loved to take the opportunity to teach when moments presented themselves. His knowledge was intriguing and his stories captivating.  His gift to elaborate made any kid under the age of 10 wide eyed! He was bigger than life.  As life changed we moved and we didn't see each other for some time.  I now look back and wish I had more time as an adult to enjoy my cousin Sonny. 
A memory I'll always hold dear is when he drove home with me from SoCal to NorCal.  I was thrilled to have the companion and protection driving up the 99.  Picked up Sonny and off we ventured.  To my surprise soon into the first 50 miles he shares he falls asleep when he's in a car.  Not to worry though wake him if I need anything.  While there would be no chatting on this trip.  I felt safe knowing I had my body guard, (just have to wake him up).  This made for a good story and memory.  Sonny, I will never forget your insightfulness, generosity, caring, love and validation.  Heaven is blessed with you onboard.

I met Ed at Shuffle Board at the end of 2021 and he always had encouraging words for me.  I will miss him!  May God be with all of you in this time of grief. 

My deepest sympathies for the Garcia family and friends. We lost a very dear man. Always encouraging us to all be better and do better in life. I remember one time I asked him why is he wearing shorts on this cold and rainy day… he looked at me with that curious look… And said “you know, I don’t think I even on a pair of pants” and we both laughed. He joined this Bingo game and he would always tell me that he didn’t need the sheets because he never pays attention and I asked him if he wanted to drop out and he said “No- I’d like to stay in the game with everybody else and I trust you to tell me when I win” It took a while, but he finally won a couple times. Rest in peace should we meet again Ed🙏🏼

I met Ed back in 2012 at the bowling alley. He always would tell me and Chris to go back to school!! Get an education! When I  was having hard times He would have me sit in a quite part of the alley and have me meditate with him. He taught me how to bowl as well. He always had somthing beautiful to say to make me feel better. He was 1 of the sweetest, strongest, intelligent man I ever knew. He always said" I love you and I'll see you later" when he was leaving. Ed I'll miss you everyday until we see each other again . Rest easy my friend 🧡

I remember sitting and chatting with my Uncle Sonny for what seemed like hours. Especially in the Chino house on Magnolia during holidays with our family. He used to take the time to sit and listen to me and ask me about myself and offer advice and wisdom. He is one of the most intelligent people I have ever known! He also had a wonderful sense of humor. He was always making everyone laugh! I will miss him!

Ol uncle Son!! Always full of fun facts and interesting stories.  He loved to play all sports and he was always competitive.  He taught me young how to throw a curve ball and he tough me the importance of learning the basics to become better at the difficult things.  He always had a great time and man did he love Christmas!  He knew how to have a good time.  Uncle Sonny is one of the few people I knew other than Gramps who could eat just about anything and not get sick from it.  He was set in his ways and he could care less whether or not other people liked it.  He lived a great life, he fought for our freedom, he traveled the world, he was a Proffessor, a great baseball and football player, and a great bowler.  Uncle Sonny played slow pitch with my dad and uncles who were decades younger than him and he held his own.  Uncle Sonny you were the man.  You were loved and you most certainly will be missed. I love you and all the memories we have together.  Cheers to you Uncle Son! Until we meet again!

My son was 5 years old when he was learning bowling In Montclair where Ed was teaching kids . He soon started group adult bowling classes which I joined. He made me into a 220 average bowler and we had a friendship that lasted 21 years. He shared so many stories with me that still bring joy and happiness to me. I’ll never forget him he was my closest friend,the brother I never had.Sincerely Jim Deleo 

God promises to bring the dead back to life at John 5:28, 29. It says “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment."
