Merrill Floyd Spivey was preceded in death by the love of his life Dolores Fay Spivey, his parents Joan and William Spivey. He is survived by his children and their spouses. His grandchildren Jeremy and Gwen, Preston and Sahar, Margaret, Phil, Ashlie and James, Baylie, Blayke and Audrey. His great grandchildren Noah, Isys, Ayden, Regan, Emerson and Jacob. Brothers and sisters in-law William and Carol Spivey, Gordon Spivey and Kim Grover, Gary and Denise Spivey and many nieces and nephews.
Our Father dedicated his life to his family. He was the most loving, kind, generous, hardworking, and giving man. You will never meet anyone more dedicated to his family. He was a die-hard Angels fan. Loved family poker nights, birthday parties and any family get together. Time with his family is what he treasured most. His giving nature was best shown to his grand and great grand babies... from the simplest of treats to gift cards, cuddly blankets, Disney Movies, DVD players, or help for special occasions. The packages he shipped to the grand-babies who lived far were always filled to the brim with grits, cake mixes and fun things to do.
Known to his family as: Dad, Papa, Uncle Merrill, and Bro. He was the neighborhood Grandpa, who enjoyed giving quarters to the children he met at the local restraunts he frequented;Rewarding them for being good or finishing their dinner. Seeing their smiles meant everything to him.
After high school he joined the US Army serving his country in Vietnam as a Communications Specialist.
He retired from Nestle in 2017 where he was a Fork Lift Operator. We all miss the goody boxes he would bring home from work, filled with all kinds of Nestle treats. His most important job, the one he treasured the most was that of husband, father, and papa.
In recent years, he battled stage 4 prostate cancer. Never once did he complain, even after a severe chemo burn, a fractured arm, or having to relearn to walk after months of being immobilized. He was winning his fight against Cancer. He was a fighter through it all, brave every step of the way. It was a weakened kidney and heart that reunited our father with our mother. He was the best example of LOVE, and he made sure we all knew how much he loved us in his own little ways. He is and will forever be OUR HERO!!
Papa -
We love you to the moon and back. Kiss Grandma for us. We know you have missed her so much. We will take care of things here. Until we meet again.
