I just found out through Facebook about Mr. Hughes passing in 2019.  I am so sorry.  I loved him as as student in his Spanish class 1992 and 1993.  One of My FAVORITE teachers ever.  I miss how he would say, “Sabe’ una cosa?” with his finger on his chin.  Such an amazing soul, I remember him so fondly and miss him dearly.  Much loves to his family to support such a beautiful human being.  Loves, Sunil Chugani, class of 1994. ❤️🙏

I am very sad to hear of Michael's passing.  I met Michael when he was teaching Introductory Spanish at Pierece College Adult extension and then after finishing those classes, I also attended the Spanish classes he was teaching at the One Generation Center in Reseda.

Michael was an amazing teacher. He was very supportive of his students and he had a knack for getting the attention of everybody thru his acting prowess.  How many times did he make us laugh with his stories about "Tito Pio cae en el rio" I forgot to count.  He is a very sweet man that I will really miss.

In fact, the only reason I knew of his passing was thru a Google search when I was trying to find out if he was teaching somewhere else.  I was really shocked and saddened to hear of his passing.  The last time we exchanged text together was last December 2018.

I will really miss you Michael.  Thank you for teaching me to love the Spanish language and for getting me started with  speaking and writing in Spanish.

Michael was our swimming partner & very Dear friend! We called our ragtag group the "Chlorine Club!" He was just a delightful man! Never an unkind word about anyone, unless they were mistreating children or ladies, then watch out!!! His love of Old Hollywood class & style permiated his very being! We shared a passion for musicals & would sing good ole show tunes till the whole pool house would stand up & cheer!!! Our hearts were just shattered to hear of his passing as we came to visit him in March! Till we meet again Dear Man, and we can pick up our song then, "Good Mornin'!" With Debbie Reynolds herself!!! Jealous you get to see her first! Lots of love to you & yours... <3 

We will miss Michael very much.
We have worked with him at Huntington Learning Center since 2005, when we still owned the center. Michael was a great asset to us then, as we had a special program with the Los Angeles Unified School District and he would be out main contact for the great number of Spanish-speaking parents at that time. We have continued working with him as a colleague in the past few years. He was always the fine ,warm gentle man, with exceptional patience for working with the youngsters in the center. It was also a pleasure to practice my limited Spanish with him. We feel his absence when we walk into the room!

     Michael will always have a special place in my heart.  He was just that, a special person...kind, talented, generous.  We met while teaching English as a Second Language to Adults.  I would look forward to talking with Michael after class.  We soon found that we shared another interest, acting, and Michael was gracious to stir me to a very fine acting class.  There, we worked together.  What fun he was.  This was his first love, his passion, acting.   He was also a delightful wellspring of information about Hollywood’s yesteryear.  Ah, Michael, I will miss you.  You were, and still are, I know, such a wonderful, warm, neat fellow.  I hope you’ve got a good acting partner who is giving you as much as you gave all of us.

Michael Hughes and I were kindred spirits. We were equally passionate about our acting careers and love of classic movies. Michael and I would often discuss the dancing style of Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire before swapping reviews of the movies we had most recently seen. Michael was unconditionally kind, patient, funny, and a truly remarkable soul. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him and I feel his absence on a visceral level. Rest in peace, Michael. You were one in a million.

Michael was my Spanish teacher at One Generation. I brushed up my rusty Spanish with his classes. He was very patient with my mistakes.  I last saw him in early March , after a year away from class. He very graciously urged me to come again . 
Lo siento mucho por su perdida. Vaya con Dios, Miguel. 

Michael and I were taking acting lessons with a wonderful, caring teacher. It was a joy to watch and listen to Michael tell us about his evil mad scientist role and the books he had written.  Mention the Golden Era of Hollywood and Michael would tell us about the movies and stars and their stories. Give him a Neil Simon script and he was in his element.
Most important was that he was kind and generous and was always there to support his fellow actors. His presence brought everything to life and he could make us laugh so.
I, we, will miss you dear, sweet Michael. You lit up the room and gifted us with your spirit.

Michael Hughes was a colleague of mine at Ivy Bridge Academy in Sherman Oaks and a very lovely man.  He wrote a wonderful reference for me at a time when I needed one badly and was kind and giving in his remarks.  I was very sad to hear of his passing and am wishing his family and friends God's choicest blessings.  May he rest in peace, he will be missed.
