William C. Stevens Jr. was born on September 28 1948. He loved to go swimming, reading books, walking around the neighborhood and local park. He was a strong, intelligent, and vibrant man. William was the oldest of five siblings, Janice, Rudolph, Eric, and Melissa. He attended William C. Dunbar elementary and Isley elementary school, he graduated from Wichita East high school in 1966. He then attended Wichita state University his freshman year but then decided to enlist in the United States Air Force where he served for the next 24 years. William was first stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas. In 1972, William served I Vietnam as an aircraft mechanic at Da Nang Air Force base. Later William went on to become a flight engineer and after Vietnam William flew C-141 cargo planes carrying troops, and cargo all over the world from Australia, to north and South Korea, to Mongolia, to Saudi Aribia, and the African Continent.
He met his wife Linda Moore, he and Linda moved to San Bernardino, California and after being reassigned to Norton Air Force Base. They had four children Lana, Cassandra, Nia, and Martha. They also had seven grandchildren Vanessa, Tristan, Landon, Skyler, Brianna, Mikah, and King.
Over the span of 24 years William was able to have a high ranking of E-7, flew the KC-135 aircraft and traveled all over the world to places such as Thailand, Alaska, Spain, and England. William was honorably discharged from the Air Force in 1992 with many awards and medals. Over the next 10 years, he drove 18-wheeler trucks for Martin transportation before William transitioned from his earthly life on August 17, 2020, and has left his footprints for the family to follow. Rejoicing in his memory are his sister Janice L. Aziz of Wichita, Kansas; Rudolph H. Stevens of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Erick R. Stevens of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughters Cassandra L. Wright and Nia M. Stevens both of Bloomington, California; his Daughter Martha J. Stevens of Las Vegas, Nevada; His niece Yvonne Lacy and sister in Law May Ramsey of Oceanside, California. William was preceded in death by his wife Linda D. Stevens, his Daughter Lana Miller and his Sister Melissa Stevens.
