

Her funeral will be at 10:30 am Thursday at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with Bishop Harold Skillrud and Pastor Brian Goke officiating. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9:00 am at the church. East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Meadows Mennonite Home, 24588 Church St, Chenoa, IL 61726; or to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1617 E. Emerson, Bloomington, IL, 61701.
Alice was born on August 29, 1924, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, to Elmer and Iva Lind. She was raised in Niagara, North Dakota. Alice graduated from St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN, in 1945. She married Richard Christian on June 26, 1949, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Northfield. He preceded her in death in 2007.
Surviving are one son, James (Rebecca) Christian, Springfield, Ohio; two daughters, Janet (Howard) White, Northfield, Minnesota; and Joanne (Patrick) Weed, Bloomington; sister, Vada Higbee, Seattle, WA; brother, Robert (Marcie) Lind, Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren, Christian, Northfield, MN; Laura (Jeff) Welciek, Ham Lake, MN; Martha White, Farmington, MN; Sara (Byron) Toledo, Twin Falls, Idaho; Amanda (Peter) Procyk, Normal, IL; Thomas (Rebecca) Weed, Bensenville, IL; and Andrea (Micah) Garnett, Monticello, IL; and five great grandchildren, Alice Ann and Emilia Welciek, Carolina Toledo, Tad Cassady, and Kendall Weed.
After graduating from St. Olaf, Alice worked various jobs in Northfield, including bookkeeper for DeMann Motors where she met her husband. After marriage they made their home in Springfield, Illinois, where their children were born. They relocated to Bloomington, IL in 1959 with General Telephone Company. Alice served as Financial Secretary of St. John’s Lutheran Church for 25 years.
Alice loved being a homemaker, mom, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church for 52 years. She considered St. John’s her second home. Alice loved her cats, but most of all, Alice loved people. She never knew a stranger.
Alice always thought the best of people and she will be missed by many.
