The family of Betty White-Barber of Bloomington, IL is sad to announce her peaceful passing on May 14, 2025 at McLean County Nursing Home. The staff was caring, skilled, and dedicated which meant the world to those who knew Betty.
Betty was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, wife, and friend who took great pride in her family and her 30-year long career at General Electric. She was passionately loyal, charming, smart, and funny, and kept life-long friends.
Betty’s perfect day included an omelet breakfast at Times Past Inn (with of course a side of corned beef hash and pancakes), a walk around Miller Park to feed the ducks despite the signs, going to a scary movie in the theater, and dinner at Red Lobster with an extra lobster tail and cheddar biscuits. In the summer she liked a paddle boat ride on the lake and going to the 4th of July fireworks. She was an avid Judge Judy fan and never missed an episode of Jeopardy. Betty was a tireless reader who particularly loved the Bible, the Pantagraph daily comics and puzzles, and her extensive horror novel collection with Stephen King and H.P. Lovecraft being particular favorites. Betty would read aloud to anyone who would listen.
Betty was peaceful, comfortable, and surrounded by caring people during her last years. Her son Paul and her friend Melda are grateful to have enjoyed Betty’s humor, sincerity, and radiating love of life while we were lucky enough to have her, and we look forward to joining her again someday.
A memorial of Betty’s life will be held on June 13, 2025, at East Lawn Memorial Gardens 1102 Airport Rd, Bloomington Il 61704
