A private family service to honor her life will be held at 10a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025, at East Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington, Il. with Pastor Brian Hastings officiating.
Carolyn was born on January 21, 1930, in Lewisburg, Kentucky to the late Berkley and Lucy Givens. On June 16, 1949, she married the love of her life, Wilbur R. Venerable, in Lewisburg, Kentucky. Her husband preceded her in death on July 26, 2013. In addition to her parents and husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Givens.
Carolyn is survived by her children, Hudson (Darby) Venerable of Bloomington, Lucy (David Rees) Brennan of Bloomington; grandchildren, Lindsay (David) Hoffman of Marion, Iowa and John (Kelsey) Venerable of Gilbert, Arizona; great grandchildren, Jake, Brad, Carly and Vivian Hoffman, Hudson and Frankie Sue Venerable.
Carolyn enjoyed music, gardening, baking and hosting dinner parties and Bridge games in her home. She loved watching all sports. Along with Wil, they were diehard supporters of The University of Kentucky. She loved spending Spring Breaks with her family at Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. She was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Bloomington.
Carolyn was adored by everyone she met. She was a terrific wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will forever be in our hearts.
