Claire Fw. Binder

Claire was born December 19, 1919 in Peoria, to Joseph II and Clara Hagen Binder. He married Helen Socha, July 9, 1944; she preceded him in death August 13, 1960. He later married Shirley Parson Trombino, May 25, 1962; she survives.

Also surviving are 2 daughters, Linda (Dan) Dolen, Normal and Elizabeth (Marcus) Stanford, Midland, TX; 1 son, Dana Dean Binder, Bartonville; 9 grandchildren, Dan E. Dolen, Normal, Tiffany LaHood, Alabama, Erin Binder, Peoria, Meghan (Jordan) Krusa, Peoria, David Wiebler, Midland, TX, Joseph & Hope Binder, Bartonville, Brittany Binder, Galesburg, Holly Pietsch, TX; 5 great-grandchildren, Sophia LaHood, Alabama, Kylee Behm, Peoria, Braxton and Braelan Krusa, Peoria and Dakota Hathaway; several nieces and nephews in Minnesota, Colorado, Arizona and Eureka, IL.

Claire was preceded in death by 1 son, Dennis Lee Binder; 2 sisters; 2 brothers, and his parents.

Claire was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in Peoria. He served on the Boards of Elders, Trustees and of the School, Usher Staff and PTL at Christ Lutheran School, Peoria. He also participated in Sharing Joy at Christ Lutheran Church in Normal. Claire was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Aleutian Islands from 1941-1945, and belonged to American Legion Posts #2 and #979, Peoria and Bartonville. He was proud to take part in a WWII Veteran’s Honor Flight in October 2011.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, Normal. Additional memorial services will be held Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church, Peoria. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
