He was born Oct. 17, 1942. He was preceded in death by his good friend, Howard Sutton; parents, Emil A. and Julia Duncan Schmidt; and brother, Sidney.
David was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retiree of Eureka-Williams. He also belonged to the dance group Senior Sidekicks of Miller Park.
The family expresses thanks to Dr. Sven Klauss and the doctors and staff at the Community Cancer Center for their excellent care.
Gratitude and eternal thanks are extended to friends, Lula McConnaughay and Violet Beck, for their kindness and care, and to many others for their prayers and support.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington.
