Surviving are her loving husband of (6) years Todd Velchek; children: Meghan (Paul) Trosley of Palmyra, IL, Skylar (Kristin) Bose of St. Charles, MO; step-children: Nikolas Velchek of Decatur, IL, Natasha (Jeremy) Brown of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren: Hunter, Kaylee, Cameron, Mia, Mikah, Ben Jr., Destiny, Layla; siblings: BJ (Craig) Cheesman of Noblesville, IN, Sandi (Kurt) Scheidenhelm of Bloomington, IL, Carol (Roby) George of Urbana, IL, Katy (Mike) Toliver of McLean, IL, Patrick Compton of Lexington, IL, Rob (Jayne) Compton of Lexington, IL; and mother: Margaret Compton of Atlanta, IL. She is preceded in death by her father.

In 1995, Diane graduated from Heartland Community College in Normal, IL with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing and went on to work for St. Joseph Medical Center. She then went to Carle BroMenn in Champaign and worked in the Emergency Department, later transitioning to NICU while graduating from Western Governor’s University with a BSN. When she wasn’t busy serving her community, Diane loved to ride her motorcycle and was a member of the Harley Owners Group. She was a NASCAR and Tony Stewart enthusiast and had a variety of interests. They included walking along sandy beaches, especially Top Sail Island, visiting aquariums to see the penguins, and collecting as much penguin and orange memorabilia as she could. Diane enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and enjoyed going on adventures with her husband. Together the two, went to concerts and sporting events and went on hot air balloon rides.

A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home.
