Dorothy Mae Chapman, 89, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Dec. 22, 2020, at home, with family surrounding her. Dorothy was born January 27, 1931, in Alton, IL, the daughter of Virgil and Violet (Greer) Syers.
Dorothy married Gordon Chapman on June 24, 1967 in Joliet, IL. She is survived by her brothers: Tim Syers, Dan Syers; children: Sharon “Sheri” (Brendan) Egan, Philip “Phil” (Theresa) Farnsworth, Lucinda “Cindy” (Ed) Klingerman, Marlene (Lester) Collins, Jeffery (Mindy) Chapman; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Her parents, brother Fred Syers, and son Kenneth “Ken” Farnsworth preceded her in death.
Dorothy was a wonderful woman who loved her family: it was everything to her. She loved to provide for her family in any way that she could, being known for her cooking—especially her bread and her blue ribbon winning coffee cake. Dorothy was a faithful churchgoer to the All Nations Seventh-Day Adventist Church and woman of God. She loved to read her Bible as well as other Christian books, and when she wasn’t reading, she was quilting her next quilt for her grandbabies.
One day Dorothy will claim the promise, O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
(1 Corinthians 15:55)
